Only this morning I posted the text of this weeks Alliance Weekly newsletter about how to transform an alliance. Right now I ran into a press release by Sanofi and Bristol-Myers Squibb who jointly announce a restructuring of their alliance agreement.
This is a great example of a transformation of an alliance: The two companies indicated to “have restructured their successful long-term alliance following the loss of exclusivity of Plavix and Avapro/Avalide in many major markets.” The market situation changes and calls for an adjustment of the alliance, in line with each company’s strategic priorities. At the same time in the new agreement the companies clean up their slate and solve some of the long lasting rumbles the alliance was facing by solving a dispute that was part of the alliance.
